Biella and Ring International Holding conclude strategic agreement for soft plastic products
Brügg/Biel-Bienne, 5 August 2013 - Biella-Neher Holding Ltd (Biella Group), the largest European manufacturer of file folders and ring binders, and the Austrian company, Ring International Holding AG, which is one of the leading manufacturers of soft plastic products via its Czech subsidiary company ProOffice s.r.o., have signed a strategic cooperation agreement for this product sector.
On 5 August 2013, Biella-Neher Holding Ltd concluded a strategic cooperation agreement for the soft plastics business sector via its subsidiary company, Biella Austria GmbH, with ProOffice s.r.o. of the Czech Republic, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Ring International Holding AG, also an Austrian company. In so doing, both companies will be able to make allowances for the changing general conditions affecting soft plastic products in the European market, which
require a concentration and bundling of respective strengths as a result of the general fall in demand and increasing competition from the Far East.
In recent years, the Biella Group has concentrated on its manufacturing activities with consistent strategic success. With the successful acquisition of the German Falken Group a year ago, Biella has grown into by far the largest European manufacturer of file folders and ring binders.
With the acquisition of the Czech company ProOffice four years ago (along with other business areas), Ring International Holding has developed into one of the leading manufacturers of soft plastic products in the European market.
With immediate effect, Biella will cease manufacturing its own soft plastic products in Kimle, Hungary and sell its soft plastic production equipment to ProOffice. The company had already reported large-scale staff cuts in Kimle last week. In future, all of the soft plastic products will be outsourced as part of long-term supply agreements. In this way, Biella can guarantee that it will still be able to provide its customers with its well-known and extensive range of high-quality soft plastic products in future.
The implementation of the new structure and systematic informing of customers will take place gradually over the next few weeks. With this move, both companies are convinced that they have effected a significant, strategic change of direction for the development of the soft plastic market.
Thanks to the acquisition of the Falken Group, the Biella Group is now one of the most important and most efficient European suppliers of office equipment. The Group has production sites in Germany, Switzerland, Poland, the United Kingdom and Romania, as well as logistics centres in Brügg/Biel, Wiener Neustadt, Cottbus and Enkhuizen (NL), not to mention its Europewide sales and marketing network. The Biella Group as a whole employs approximately 1,100 people.
